I just went to search my blog for this session to show the location to another couple, and realized I never blogged it to begin with! These two are now married and have an adorable baby boy, but I still love these images from their Cullen Central Park engagement session – before all the construction started there! It’s still one of my favourite locations, even though some of my old spots are blocked off, there are still a lot of great locations here.

Jackie and Lee met while she went down to Bermuda for a teaching position. Both being teachers, they hit off, and have taken turns travelling back and forth to visit each other as often as possible ever since. Lee came up here last winter during the ice storm, and this year he got to experience a bit of our freezing cold February – quite the introduction to Ontario! We all kept an eye on the weather forecast, trying to pick a day that wasn’t going to be minus one million, but with the constant changes, we just decided to go for it!
Jackie has been a competition skater for as long as I’ve known her (she’s the same age as my “little” brother), so she knew she wanted to get out her skates during their winter engagement session. My fingers and toes may have numbed and thawed numerous times during this session, but it was totally worth it! We even had a deer sneak into a couple photos as well.
I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in August at Stonewall Estates!
Toronto traffic played a role in the outcome of this session – normally we aim to be done the session as the sun disappears from view, but a late start meant we kept on shooting and found other ways to light our photos! Though unintentional this time, this is my second night time Distillery District engagement session, and I love how they turned out. Next time I should bring an assistant with me though, as I almost left my flash in a tree!
