Leah loved the idea of winter engagement photos and asked me if we could do their session at her family’s property in Raglan, a hamlet in north Whitby, so of course I said, “Yes!” I love having the chance to work in new locations that I wouldn’t ever find otherwise. And let me just tell you, it was a PERFECT day for it. It snowed recently, but was not snowing that day, the temperature was mild for this time of year, but not mild enough to melt everything, and there was zero wind, which is rare these days! We had a great time exploring the property and I’m now even more excited for their wedding next September!
Alyson and Steve had a beautiful wedding at Deer Creek in Ajax. Their early evening ceremony was held indoors, followed by the formal reception in the Audley Room. Alyson’s sister and matron of honour introduced these two to each other, with Steve being a co-worker of hers. She must have known they’d hit it off, because there is something so sweet about the way Alyson and Steve look at each other, and they can’t stop smiling!
I really liked the antiqued, slightly desaturated look for these images as I was processing them. For some reason it just “feels” right.
Alyson looking gorgeous in the window light
How perfect that colour of the Christmas ornaments matched their theme colours!
Love a good detail shot!
Another ring photo…
Love this one of Alyson’s father walking her down the aisle
How sweet are they?!
A wedding dress with pockets – perfect for November!
Alyson’s mother actually made the cakes that were featured as part of the centerpieces at every table. There were many different flavours, and sharing was encouraged!
I loved the full length original version of this next one, but I cropped in so you can see their expressions – is that love, or what?
As I was driving away that night, I had to stop and get out the tripod for this shot – I was freezing cold and people driving by probably thought I was crazy, but I’m glad I got it!
I’d love to be able to tell you that Jude knew exactly what was going on, and got genuinely excited for Christmas during this session, but in actual fact, the thing that made him literally get up and dance, clap, and cheer enthusiastically was having his parents sing Happy Birthday! It was the cutest thing – I just love all his expressions!
Taking a closer look at my camera!
I love how he appears to be staring at the tree in complete amazement in this next one:
And letting us know he had enough…
