These three were just about the most adorable things I have ever seen (although I say that about all babies – but it’s always true!) We had to wait for the littlest one to be released from the hospital for this newborn triplets photoshoot to happen, but you can already see the bond they have. They always turned in towards each other, even linking arms and hugging each other – talk about cuteness, oh my!
The Magic of Newborn Triplets: Capturing Their First Days
There’s something truly special about newborn photography, but when you add triplets to the mix? It’s an entirely new level of magic. Capturing three tiny babies in their first days of life is an unforgettable experience full of love, wonder, and a little bit of chaos!
Photographing newborn triplets comes with its own unique set of challenges, but the reward is worth every moment. These images freeze time, documenting the incredible bond between siblings who have been together from the very beginning.
The Unique Challenges of Photographing Newborn Triplets
Coordinating Three Sleepy Newborns
If you’ve ever tried to soothe one newborn to sleep, you can imagine what it’s like with three! Timing is everything in a triplet session. Newborn sessions typically work best when babies are in that deep, cozy sleep, but with multiples, it’s rare for all three to drift off at the same time. That’s why patience (and a little flexibility) is key.
We take our time, allowing for extra feeding breaks and soothing moments. Some shots may happen while one baby is awake, and that’s okay! The goal is to work with their natural rhythm and create a relaxed experience for the babies and their parents.
Posing for Safety & Comfort
With three delicate newborns, safety is always the top priority. Triplet sessions require careful posing and extra hands to ensure each baby is supported and comfortable at all times. Some of the sweetest images—like the three of them curled up together—are actually a combination of careful positioning, soft supports, and a lot of patience!
This is also why newborn triplet sessions often involve an assistant or a parent helping just outside the frame. Every little hand, foot, and head needs gentle attention to create those peaceful, heart-melting images.
Timing the Session Around Feedings & Sleep
A newborn triplets photoshoot requires a flexible schedule. Unlike a standard newborn session, where we can often plan around one baby’s sleep cycle, a triplet session means adjusting to three different rhythms. Feedings take longer, diaper changes triple, and soothing can be a group effort!
Because of this, triplet newborn sessions often run a bit longer than traditional newborn shoots. The key is to allow plenty of time for breaks while keeping a calm, low-stress environment. I never book anything else in my studio on the same day as a newborn session, so there’s no rush!
The Emotional Impact of Triplet Newborn Photos
There’s something profoundly moving about capturing the bond between newborn triplets. From the moment they are born, they share an unbreakable connection that will only grow as they do. These first images of them curled up together, holding tiny hands, or simply resting side by side will be treasured for a lifetime.
Parents often tell me how quickly the newborn stage passes, and this is especially true for multiples. The early days are a whirlwind of feedings, diaper changes, and sleepless nights, making it easy to forget just how small they once were. These photos serve as a beautiful reminder of their journey—proof of the love, strength, and wonder that comes with welcoming three little ones at once.
Final Thoughts
Photographing newborn triplets is an honor and a privilege. It takes time, patience, and a deep appreciation for the incredible bond between these tiny siblings. But at the end of the day, the result is something truly magical. We create images that will be cherished forever.
Need a Newborn Triplets Photoshoot?
This session was photographed quite early in my career, and I’d love to photograph triplet babies again! Expecting triplets? Let’s capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment! Contact me to book your newborn session today.
I know you have to purchase a lot of items x3 with triplets, but my pricing does not change with 3 babies. We’ll still document the babies together, individually, with siblings if any, and with parents.
